After looking at the Twitter profiles provided, I went online and found other profiles to compare them to. One major difference I noticed about these twitter profiles is the way they look based on who is using them and what they are using it for. For the two profiles provided, they are very simple. They have a light colored background with not a lot of noisy elements on the sides. These profiles are used by individuals for personal purposes so naturally these profiles would reflect what the profiles will be used for. When I looked up other twitter profiles, I chose to look at the profile of a band that I enjoy listening to. The band, The Summer Set, has a profile to update their fans with what the band is up to. When looking at this profile, the profile was vastly different than the two profiles provided. The Summer Set's profile is brightly colored like their newest album cover. The profile also utilizes the sides of the profile to promote their new cd, music videos, and record label. This profile is used to promote the band and what they are up to so utilizing that space to promote is very interesting and beneficial to the band.
The differences between these profiles definitely helps understand the person behind the profile and what they use the profile for. In the profiles given, both are very calming. The light colors and simple illustrations on the side reflect the way the user would use their profile. These profiles are casual, just like the tweets that accompany it. This makes me feel like the people behind the profiles are calm and casual. With the Summer Set Twitter profile, I see busy and bright colors, pictures of the band, and links to various ways to see their music videos or buy their music. This profile really shows me what the band would be like at first glance. I assume that the band is very fun and interesting. The differences between these profiles gives the viewer a contrast to see what these people might be like.
I personally do have a twitter profile, but in all honesty, today was the first time I looked at in in several months. I don't really use twitter anymore. My profile however, still somewhat reflects me and what I would tweet about. I chose to have some light purple flowers as the background. I chose this background because it looked like pictures I had taken before. If I were to get back into twitter, I would probably change my profile however. I think having a brightly colored background similar to the Summer Set's profile would be fun and more reflecting of myself today.
